Funeral Services for Kent Pigg, age 58, of Laurel will be held at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the United Lutheran Church in Laurel on Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a  Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Interment with Military
Rites will be at the Laurel Cemetery. He passed away Friday, January 27th, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Memorials may be directed to the Pigg family for later designation. Arrangements with Hasemann Funeral Home of Laurel.

Kent Emery Pigg was born April 19, 1958, in Sioux City, to Clair and Darlene (Kautz) Pigg. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1976, and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1978 to 1984.  Kent married Bernita Johnson on March 21, 1989, in Laurel. Kent farmed near Laurel, afterwards Kent worked at Northside Feed and Grain, later he owned and operated Kent Pigg Trucking, and most recently drove for Rhode Trucking Inc. of Homer.

    While Kent was in the Marine Corps, he was stationed in the Philippines and Okinawa.  Kent was a Harley enthusiast and loved getting out on the open road on beautiful summer days. Kent was a member of the American Legion chapter in Laurel. When time permitted, he enjoyed restoring toy tractors and adding to his impressive collection.  Some of his favorite activities included playing euchre, cheering on the Huskers, eating at Milwaukee Wiener House, shooting targets, watching movies especially those starring John Wayne, spending time with his family and his four-legged grandchild Peanut. 

    Kent is survived by his wife, Bernita; daughter Jessica (Scot) Surber of Laurel; stepchildren, Travis (Becky) Kraemer of Arlington,  Kari (Brett) Kindler of Fremont, and Shane (Annie Trosper) Kraemer of Murray; 8 grandchildren; Rachel, Emily, and Paige Kraemer (Travis and  Becky); Gracie, Kaylie Herman and Benjamin Kindler (Kari and Brett); Venus Thomas and Tommy Foley (Shane and Annie); mother Darlene Burns of Laurel, mother-in-law, Donella Johnson of Wayne; sister, Linda Rager of Mankato, MN, brothers, Dave (Margie) Pigg of Le Mars, IA, and Scott (Barb) Pigg of Laurel; brothers- in- law,   Alden (Kathy) Johnson Omaha, Elden (Toots) Johnson of Lakeland, FL; many nieces and nephews.
    Kent was preceded in death by his father, Clair Pigg; step-father, Harold Burns; father-in-law, Ted Johnson; and grandparents.
