Norris Hansen, age 88, of Wayne

Funeral Services for Norris Hansen age 88, of Wayne will be held at Trinity  Lutheran Church in Winside on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to   4:00 p.m. with family present. Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Winside.  Memorials may be directed to the Hansen Family for later designation or Winside Fire and Rescue. Norris passed away December 7, 2016, after a brief illness under Hospice Care at his daughter’s home in Sioux City, Iowa
  Norris “Toad” Gailand Hansen was born May 1, 1928, on a farm northwest of Winside to Iler and Carrie (Nielsen) Hansen.  He graduated from Winside Public School.  Norris married Effie Tibbs of Norfolk June 25, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside.  The couple began farming in 1949 southeast of Winside, retiring in 2001.  They moved to Wayne in 2003.  Norris was a Winside Volunteer fireman for 28 years, from 1959-1987.  He served on the Rural Fire Board from 1987-2002.  He was a member of the ASC Agricultural Board in the 1970’s and served on the Winside School Board from 1967-1971. Norris enjoyed fishing with family, pheasant hunting, and playing cards and dominos with friends.
   Norris is survived by his wife, Effie of 68 years; daughter, Denise (Dave) Broders of Wayne and their children, Lilly Dayle (Jay) Hendricksen, Cali Broders, and Ransen (Josie) Broders; daughter, Jeanette (John) Young of Sioux City, IA, and their children, Erica Young (Pete Luschen), Kelsey (Molly) Young, Alison (Greg) Berger, and Kyle Young;  great-grandchildren, Tyler, Karli, Emma, Miles, William, Townes, Hayes, Caleb, Jeremiah,   and Elijah;  sister, Alice Olin of Crosby, ND;  sister-in-law, Nancy Hansen of Bowling Green, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
   Norris was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Leon Hansen; brothers, George Hansen and Bernard (Barb) Hansen; sister, Helen (Stony) Stahlnecker; and brother-in-law, Merle Olin.
