WAYNE - Hospital staff, school staff and law enforcement met at Providence Medical Center on August 26 to walk through their response if the unimaginable happened.

They met to participate in a tabletop drill for an event involving an active shooter. The scenario involved a recently fired employee, who made a threat while leaving.

The drill was facilitated via webinar by Bo Mitchell from UNMC who led participants through the scenario.

The exercise ended with the fired employee re-entering the hospital and opening fire. The drill helps each particpant know their role during emergencies.

Participants at Providence included individuals from the Wayne Police Department, Wayne Community Schools, Wayne State Campus Security, the Nebraska Public Health Department, Region One Medical Response System and Wayne County Emergency Management.
