WAYNE - Ground was broken Friday afternoon for a project that will add an emergency room to a Northeast Nebraska hospital.
Providence Medical Center broke ground during a ceremony Friday at 2 p.m. Hospital CEO Jim Frank welcomed a crowd of 60 plus people. Remarks were given by Chairman of the Board of Trustees Galen Wiser, Wayne Mayor Ken Chamberlain, Senator Dave Bloomfield, and Darland Construction Principal Duke Matz.
The construction won't be finished until the Summer of 2017, and will add a dedicated emergency room. Currently Providence Medical Center has three areas where they provide emergency treatment.
