WAYNE – A high school girl’s golf triangular just got their nine holes in before some lightening showed up just north of Wayne.
During a later afternoon day of golf three teams took to the Wayne Country Clubs course Thursday.
Wayne, West Point-Beemer, and South Sioux City were the three teams that competed in the girl’s golf triangular.
West Point-Beemer took home first place with a 195, followed in second place by the Wayne Blue Devils with a 228, and third place from South Sioux City with a 310.
Head Wayne High girls golf coach, Josh Johnson, said the team lost a couple seniors last year but there are some girls stepping up.
“We had some girls step up big time,” said Coach Johnson. “We had Ashlyn Pecena and Megan Keiser get their personal bests today (Thursday).”
Each group played the front nine at the Wayne Country Club.
Individual scores for West Point Beemer were Lacie Fox (38), Anna VanderGriend (50), Paige Meier (53), and Alex Kinder (54). For Wayne Kaitlyn McAllister (50), Ashlyn Pecena (53), Megan Keiser (59), and Jewel Kneifl (66). For South Sioux City Kaitlyn Agee (64), Kassie Donelson (78), Malia Agee (82), and Danielle Donelson (86).
The Wayne High girl’s golf team will host an invitational Friday morning at the Wayne Country Club at 9 a.m. Teams competing in the invite are Battle Creek, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Pierce, Laurel Concord-Coleridge, Oakland-Craig, Pender, and Stanton.
