WAYNE – An upperclassmen led team will be in charge of this year’s Wildcat Volleyball team.
The Wayne State College volleyball team will return all six of their starters after not losing anyone due to graduation in the 2014 season.
Throughout fall camp and even during the summer Head Coach, Scott Kneifl, said all the returners put in their time over the summer.
“Working out four days a week together, working extremely hard,” said Coach Kneifl. “Fall camp has been great so far we are nicked up a little bit, have a couple bumps and bruises, but for the most part it has been great.”
Last year the team went 27-7, finishing sixth in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. Coach Kneifl mentioned that this year will not be great just because last year was great, and the team knows that.
“I think our leadership will go a long ways,” Kneifl mentioned. “We have four seniors, two of those are fifth year seniors that have played a lot over the course of three years. We are really excited about this year’s group.”
The Wildcat volleyball team will open the 2015 campaign on the road with two tournaments, the Southern Indiana and Rockhurst tournament to begin the month of September. WSC will host their conference opener on September, 17 taking on Sioux Falls.
