WSC Women's Soccer Selected 15th, Brown And Poppe Wildcat Players To Watch

WAYNE – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) has released the 2015 Preseason Women’s Soccer Coaches Poll along with players to watch this year for each of the 16 teams in the conference.
The Wildcat soccer team has been selected to finish 15th out of 16 teams in the NSIC, receiving 36 points by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota Thursday morning. Josie Brown and Natalie Poppe were named as Wildcat Players to Watch this season.

5-8 senior forward, #9 Josie Brown from Elk River, Minnesota, Elk River high school, was selected as one of the players to watch this season for WSC. Brown received an All-NSIC honorable mention as a junior in 2014. She led WSC in goals (3) and points (8). A highlight for Brown last season was when she scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 win at UNK.

5-5 senior defender, #20 Natalie Poppe from North Platte, Nebraska, North Platte high school was also selected as a player to watch for WSC. Poppe started in 13 of the 14 games she played in as a defender last season. She scored one goal on five shots last year, as the goal was scored at MSU Moorhead.
The Wayne State College women’s soccer team finished 3-14-1 overall last year and 2-13 in the NSIC which was a part of a three-way tie for 14th place with MSU Moorhead and Sioux Falls. The team will be under new direction this season as Bruce Erickson was hired on as head coach on July 20 earlier this year.
The team will be set for their home opener on Thursday, September 3 at the Wayne State College soccer field at 4 p.m. hosting Northwest Missouri State. This will be one of four games in a row that WSC will host, three non-conference games and their conference opener vs. Augustana College.
