WAYNE - It was a warm afternoon when amateurs and professional golfers teamed up to raise money for a local Northeast Nebraska hospital Friday, August 7.
The 15th annual Providence Medical Center (PMC) Pro-Am golf tournament was held at the Wayne Country Club Friday afternoon.

Sandy Bartling, PMC Foundation President, said this is PMC’s one major fundraiser during the year with the idea to raise money for certain projects for the hospital.
“This year we are going to apply the funds toward the purchase of the new 3D/4D Ultra-Sound machine,” said Bartling. “That’s about a $250,000 purchase, and so this is just getting us off the ground with this fundraising project this year.”
After 15 years there can always be something new during the PMC Pro-Am golf tournament, like this year the tournament had corporate sponsors for the first time and they try to shoot for 22 teams and Bartling said they had plenty of teams.
“This year we had 24 (teams) but we had plenty of Pros,” Bartling added. “Our Pros are always very loyal to us, come back every year. A lot of them have been with us all 15 years.”
PMC will close the books for the Pro-Am in about a week as they are waiting for some sponsorship checks to come in and have some bills to pay. But once that is all done they will know how successful they were this year.
Bartling is eternally grateful and each year she is overwhelmed with the kind of support that PMC gets throughout the year.
“To all of our friends of the foundation, the hospital thank you so much,” said Bartling. “It was a very successful tournament.”
