Margaret Nickolene Krie was born March 23, 1919, at Belden to Morris and Clara (Nielsen) Kvols. She attended school at Belden until her Jr. year then moved to Hawarden, Ia. where she graduated. She attended the School of Cosmetology in Omaha and was a cosmetologist for sixty years. Margaret married Gilbert Krie July 13, 1946. They farmed north of Dixon, north of Laurel, and retired into Laurel in 1977. Being a farmer’s wife, Margaret worked side by side with her husband. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Laurel and past long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Coleridge. She belonged to Ruth Circle, VFW Auxiliary, Country Tuesday Club, and held many offices in these organizations. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and playing cards. She loved her time with family and having them come to visit. Their grandchildren were special and the candy dishes were always ready for those times.
Margaret is survived by her children, Mary Margaret (Don) Brockman of Boone, IA, Marlene (Bill) Evans of Burlington, IA, Connie (Ken) Arens of Beatrice, Douglas (Lynette) Krie of Laurel, and Marcy (Mark) Heap of Jacksonville, FL; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
