Interstate, Major Highways Shut Down


NEBRASKA – As winter weather continues to blanket Central Nebraska with snow, parts of Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 30 have been shut down.

The Nebraska Department of Roads has closed down both I-80 and U.S. Highway 30 between North Platte and Lexington. Additional road closures include U.S. 30 and I-80 from Kearney to Lexington.

The National Weather service issued a blizzard warning that area of the state that expired at noon, but conditions continue to deteriorate.

Storm Spotters in the area are reporting wind gusts of up to 47 mph.

National Weather Service officials say the highest snow totals will be seen today in a line from Broken Bow to O’Neill, with possibilities of snowfall up to one foot in these areas by tomorrow.
