PERU – The Peru State Bobcats Booster Club is rallying fans to help support an assistant football coach whose baby son is battling a medical condition.
Justin Hoffman’s son, Judah, was born with a rare disease known as metopic craniosynostosis, a condition causing the soft spot on the front of his skull to close early, requiring surgery in infancy to reopen the soft spot and allow his brain to grow properly. He is scheduled to have surgery on Oct. 4 in Texas.
“Justin is trying very hard to be there for his son and wife along with keeping up for the team,” Booster Club Secretary Mike Gerdes said in a letter. “Justin is very dedicated to the Bobcats. He is also a very proud person and would never ask a person for help but you would like to help contribute to a GoFundMe page set up by his family, I’m sure this would go a long way to assist with medical and travel expenses.”
Justin and his wife, Lacey, live in Cook, Neb.
After Judah’s surgery on the 4th, Hoffman is schedule to fly back and be with the team as they prepare for their Homecoming game against Baker on Oct. 6. His family plans to also be there to support the Bobcats over the weekend.
