D2: Johnson-Brock advances to quarterfinals for second straight season

JOHNSON – Johnson-Brock senior quarterback Cole Fossenbarger was 7-8 passing for 184 yards and five touchdowns, and the No. 2 Eagles flew threw the second round of the Class D2 State Football Playoffs Wednesday night with a 76-0 victory over Allen in Johnson.

Fossenbarger added 39 yards on the ground and another score.

He connected twice with his younger brother, freshman Caleb, for touchdowns. Caleb Fossenbarger finished with two receptions for 60 yards. Caleb also had a 67-yard pick six in the fourth quarter.

Junior receiver Ty Hahn scored three total times, including two touchdown receptions. He led the team with 78 yards on 3 catches.

Senior running back/tight end Dylan Rowe added a pair of touchdowns – one through the air and one on the ground. He led the team with 10 carries and 64 yards. He also caught a 31-yard touchdown pass.

The Johnson-Brock defense forced seven Allen turnovers (6 fumbles, 1 interception) and held the Eagles to 152 total yards and 6 first downs.

Senior running back Kyle Smith, a champion bull rider, finished with 55 yards rushing on 15 carries for Allen.

J-B (10-0) advances to the Nebraska School Activities Association Class D2 Quarterfinals for the second consecutive season. Last year, they lost to Howells-Dodge on the road, 54-42. They host No. 3 Bloomfield (10-0) at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The Bees defeated No. 6 Osmond, 30-20, on Wednesday.

The quarterfinals will be broadcast on News Channel Nebraska TV or radio.

Allen finishes the season 6-4. They haven’t qualified for the quarterfinals since 2008.
