WAYNE – Updated COVID-19 totals were provided for counties within the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department.

Officials with NNPHD released their most recent report from Christmas Day (Friday, December 25 through Monday evening where there were 22 new COVID-19 positives.

Of the 3,059 total positives, 2,456 have since recovered and there have been nearly 20,000 total cumulative negatives and nearly 23,000 total tests for the NNPHD Health District.

Monday’s report also included new positives since last report/total positives/total number recovered for each county in the health district. Cedar (3/707/545); Dixon (2/538/427); Thurston (13/888/695) and Wayne (4/926/789).

As of Monday morning, 21,419 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered in Nebraska. So far, 49,390 vaccine doses have arrived and been distributed to health care facilities in the state. On-site vaccinations for residents and staff of long-term care facilities are expected to begin this week. Facilities have scheduled more than 130 clinics for the coming weeks.

Additional vaccine shipments are expected, but will be delayed due to weather moving through the region. Shipments planned for early in the week are expected to arrive by the end of the week.

Some Test Nebraska sites will adjust their schedule or close temporarily on Tuesday and Wednesday as a winter storm moves through the state. Those registered should regularly check messages for updates as notification via text or email will be sent in the event of a change.

Metropolitan Community College sites are still operating on current schedule, but may make adjustments based on weather patterns.  The Lincoln and Oak View sites will operate at reduced capacity.

Wednesday, Dec. 30:

  • Cozad – Cozad Fire and Rescue
  • York – West View Medical Building
  • Valentine – United Methodist Church

Wayne Family Medical Clinic: Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon and closed on New Year’s Eve.

Wakefield Salem Lutheran Church: each Monday from 3 – 5 p.m.
