WAYNE – As Wayne State College saw a jump in active positive COVID-19 cases, officials with the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department provided their weekend numbers.
According to a release from NNPHD, there were 13 new COVID-19 positives from the weekend through Monday, March 1.
Of the 3,711 total positives, 3,484 have since recovered and there have been over 27,000 total cumulative negatives and nearly 31,000 total tests for the NNPHD Health District.
Monday’s report also included new positives since last report/total positives/total number recovered for each county in the health district. Cedar (2/904/856); Dixon (2/639/593); Thurston (0/1,102/1,041) and Wayne (9/1,066/994).

As of Friday, February 26 there were 53 positive cases (increase by 26 from the week prior) at Wayne State College with 27 active positive cases (up by 19). Also, a total of 26 individuals returned to campus (up by seven from the week prior).
The numbers provide a snapshot of the total number of positive cases for employees and students, the number of people who have returned to campus and the number of active positive cases.
