WAYNE – Community members within the health district of the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department continue to do their part in slowing the spread as state-wide coronavirus numbers saw another increase.

According to a release from NNPHD, the COVID-19 Risk Dial remained the same in the lower half of the yellow category (moderate). The dial is designed to help communities better understand the current risk of getting the virus in this area.

As of Wednesday, there were two new COVID-19 positives. Of the 3,897 total positives 3,747 have since recovered.

The daily report also included new positives since the last report/total number recovered/total positives for each county in the health district. Cedar (2/906/934), Dixon (0/643/685), Thurston (0/1,118/1,158) and Wayne (0/1,080/1,120).

Wayne County increased from seven to nine cases of COVID-19 positives from March 28 – April 3 to April 4 – 10. Cedar County fell from three to two; Dixon County dropped from six to one while Thurston County fell from six to three.

There have been 49 deaths (remained the same as last week) with two additional deaths pending investigation. Of the 211 ever hospitalized, none were currently hospitalized as of April 10 (down one from last week).

Also, on Wednesday, DHHS officials reported another increase in the past week for current hospitalizations being 166 as of April 13. Last week, that total was at 151.
