NNPHD COVID-19 Weekly report 8-23-21

WAYNE – For the week ending on Saturday, August 21, the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department health district had another 20 individuals recover from COVID-19 with now 43% of the area fully vaccinated.

According to a release from NNPHD, local health officials are adjusting the way they report cases per 100,000 and percentage of positivity to a 7-day period in order to be consistent with CDC and other reporting entities.

Cases per 100,000 for a seven-day reporting period were listed at 55 which was an increase of three from Saturday, August 14.

For the second straight week, 284 tests were conducted with 17 tests coming back positive. A decrease of three active cases now brings the total to 81. Of the overall 41,566 tests reported, 4,141 have tested positive.

The active hospitalization category decreased from three to two for a total of 230 hospitalizations. COVID-19 related deaths remained at 54.
