WAYNE – As Wayne State College updates their COVID-19 totals, officials with the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department provided weekend results and an update for COVID-19 vaccine sign-ups.
According to a release from NNPHD, there were 15 new COVID-19 positives from the weekend through Monday, February 1.
Of the 3,491 total positives, 3,105 have since recovered and there have been nearly 24,000 total cumulative negatives and over 27,500 total tests for the NNPHD Health District.
Monday’s report also included new positives since last report/total positives/total number recovered for each county in the health district. Cedar (5/830/714); Dixon (4/607/530); Thurston (4/1,058/925) and Wayne (2/996/936).

Residents in Cedar, Dixon Thursday or Wayne counties who have not signed up for the vaccine can visit one of the links below to put your name on the list. Once the vaccine is available, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment. The priority group to be vaccinated right now is people who are 65 years or older since they are more likely to get very sick from the virus.

There are only 400 doses coming to the NNPHD Health District each week and this will take some time to get people vaccinated as your patience is appreciated.
As of Friday, January 29 there were 12 positive cases (increase from seven from the week prior) at Wayne State College with five active positive cases (remained the same). Also, a total of seven individuals returned to campus (up from five from the week prior).
The numbers provide a snapshot of the total number of positive cases for employees and students, the number of people who have returned to campus and the number of active positive cases. As a reminder, follow all guidelines and requirements regarding the four pillars of hygiene, masks, social distancing and self-screening.
